Dr. Elva Hoxie, MFT, Ph.D.
Dr. Elva Hoxie’s education and experience brings a holistic approach to therapy. She has worked as a licensed registered nurse with a Masters degree in Public focusing on the integration of mind and body to promote well-being. She completed a second Masters degree in in marital and family therapy with emphasis on adapting to life changes. She earned a PhD in psychology with emphasis in humanistic existential perspectives.
The focus of her dissertation research was in neuroscience and how the mind transcends tragedy. She has participated in workshops and conferences related to adapting to changes. The focus is on learning to recreate the ‘new normal’ after existential shattering life transitions. Dr. Elva’s life experiences and educational endeavors bring a spectrum of knowledge, from a multidisciplinary approach, to the therapeutic process. This diversity broadens the level of support for helping clients facilitate positive changes, initiate coping skills for future challenges, and clarify life goals.
