About Dr. Pabbati
Dr. Chaitanya Pabbati, MD
Dr. Chaitanya Pabbati is a licensed and board certified adult psychiatrist. He received his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of California, San Diego including serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Pabbati received awards from UCSD for teaching residents and medical students, along with the George Ginsberg award from the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training for contributions to psychiatric education. Dr. Pabbati’s research has also been recognized with the John A. Majda Memorial Award and the APA Resident Research Award.
Dr. Pabbati currently serves as the medical director of the VA San Diego Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM) program, serving those veterans diagnosed with serious mental illness. Dr. Pabbati also serves as the communications director for the San Diego Psychiatric Society, working to bring together all psychiatrist in San Diego and represent their interests to both the California Psychiatric Association and the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Pabbati is a lecturer at the University of San Diego, training Marriage and Family Therapists, and also serves as a medical education technology consultant.
Dr. Pabbati’s approach to care involves a multimodal approach, resting on psychotherapy, social engagement, physical well-being, and psychopharmacology. With training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy, Dr. Pabbati prioritizes understanding the developmental background and upbringing of his patients, along with the current psychosocial factors that may be impacting the health of his patients. Dr. Pabbati is dedicated to improving the overall well-being of his patients, looking beyond diagnoses to search for all the factors in a person’s life that may be impacting their health. By prioritizing his patient’s goals for themselves and working with them collaboratively, Dr. Pabbati hopes to impact each of their lives positively and help his patients grow.
